Yes, after a lot of consideration, we've decided it's time to let someone else carry forward with the vision of CopperLake.
We've had a very successful season and harvest, hand-picking 5 tonnes grapes, for this year's wines.
2009 should be a year to remember for it's vintage and resulting wines. The weather was very kind to us, and the grapes were in excellent condition.
From the 3 tonnes of Pinot Noir grapes, we took 350 litres of juice, to make a trial Pinot Noir Rose.
It's now finished fermenting, and is promising to be a fantastic wine. We already have customers for this wine, as well as the other varieties we're producing.
Our Pinot Gris is nearly through ferment, and is proving a better wine than last year's vintage.
We only have a small amount of Viognier, but it too has the luscious nose and flavours that make this a real favourite.
The Pinot Noir already has the wonderful complexity of blackberries and spice, well balanced with tannins, and acid. It's going to be a winner!
On 23 June we'll bottle the 2008 Pinot Noir, which is a delicious, refreshing summer Pinot Noir. It has berry fruits and spice on the nose, with subtle oak balancing the fruits.
